When I dig into practice productivity during a consulting gig, I focus a lot on immunizations. Now that so many of you do a decent job with E&Ms and some of you even do well at recall, vaccines have taken over as the source of the biggest money leaks in many practices. Bad pricing, missed opportunities, and...poor coding. Here's an updated tool to help with that.
A while back, I realized that too many practices fail to match their products with their admins. That is, we ought to be able to count up the number of vaccines you give and compare them to the primary immunization admin count, and those numbers should match. Often, they don't. Sometimes the gaps are huge. And that's not even addressing the proper use of the 90460/90461 combination.
Back in 2019, I created a spreadsheet tool to help with this analysis. I've updated it a few times already, but I've reached a new, cool plateau. No more spreadsheet, it's now a web app. Just download the file here, open it in a browser, and you can work off-line to your heart's content. You can even save the results.
The concept is easy - just cut and paste a list of CPT codes and unit volume into the app or edit the fields. It does the rest of the work. Check out the Immunization Admin/Product Check Tool!
