Piles of news backed up in my inbox.
- Good work by Dr. Branco and his constant effort to get kids immunized. I will be seeing him next week. Dr. Branco, if you are not aware is behind the Vaccines Save Lives sticker.
- In a similar vein, I love this segment (at least his moment, starting ~2:30)from Dr. Stu Cohen. "It's like playing Russian Roulette."
- It's a good week to be proud of Vermont, as our Congressman (note the singular) Peter Welch gets a pediatric research bill passed. The NIH has been decimated going back a couple terms, I am delighted to see a return to valuing science.
- John Canning is the one who pointed me to a tool from the NYTimes that allows you to see how much Medicare paid specific physicians last year. It's all part of the giant CMS Freeing Of Data, which I generally applaud.
- The pediatrician I've known the longest, and the one to whose group I bring our kids, Dr. Joe Hagan, was officially named one of the AAP's president-elect candidates. I wish I could provide you to a good link, or a WWW with more information, etc., but this is the AAP we're talking about here. So I can't. I hope that Dr. Hagan reverses the trend of the organized academic physician voting.
- Finally, here's an interesting note. Do you use a hosted EHR, one that uses a browser? Look out for an exploit in the CCDA spec that could open your EHR and computer to hacking. Crazy!
