# The 10 Hottest Issues In Pediatric Care...from 1991!

A few weeks ago, John Canning shared with me this article from the November 1991 (now defunct) *Pediatric Management* magazine entitled, "The 10 Hottest Issues From Pediatric Care!"

- Inadequate Compensation
- Skyrocketing Expenses
- Pressure to Expand Office Hours
- How To Improve Lifestyle
- Women's Issues
- Practice Management
- Finding the Time For Hospital Care
- Malpractice
- Impending Regulation of Office Labs
- Adolescent Gynecology

It's as if some of those topics were written yesterday, while others have faded into the distance.  Of course, I zoomed right in on the "Women's Issues" topic and even though some of the sensibility, and even accuracy, is dated, the considerations there - namely, raising a family - are as true today as it they were 35y ago.

My takeaway from this is that the "good ol' days" had many of the same key problems we have today - poor compensation, limited autonomy, challenging lifestyle.
