The 10 Hottest Issues In Pediatric Care...from 1991!

A few weeks ago, John Canning shared with me this article from the November 1991 (now defunct) Pediatric Management magazine entitled, "The 10 Hottest Issues From Pediatric Care!"

Practice Management Nov 1991

Click above to read the entire thing, but here's the top 10 list:

  • Inadequate Compensation
  • Skyrocketing Expenses
  • Pressure to Expand Office Hours
  • How To Improve Lifestyle
  • Women's Issues
  • Practice Management
  • Finding the Time For Hospital Care
  • Malpractice
  • Impending Regulation of Office Labs
  • Adolescent Gynecology

It's as if some of those topics were written yesterday, while others have faded into the distance.  Of course, I zoomed right in on the "Women's Issues" topic and even though some of the sensibility, and even accuracy, is dated, the considerations there - namely, raising a family - are as true today as it they were 35y ago.

My takeaway from this is that the "good ol' days" had many of the same key problems we have today - poor compensation, limited autonomy, challenging lifestyle.

Let me know what you think!
