BCBS Settlement

When I first started this blog forever ago, posting announcements about things like the $2.8b BCBS class action settlement was a real community service given how few sources there were for practice management information.  Today, you're saturated and I expect that most, if not all, of my readers are aware of the lawsuit and the settlement.

But just in case you weren't aware or, more likely, you were aware but haven't done anything about it, I will try to make it as easy to understand and participate as possible.

What is it?  Executive summary: BCBS got caught cheating.  They fixed prices and carved up territory, much like organized crime would do.  You know that insurance companies don't sign off on $2.8B settlements easily.  The real damage was likely 10x that amount, I suspect.

Who does this affect?  Anyone who saw BCBS patients between 2008 and 2024, give or take.  The details are on the link above.

What do you need to do?  It turns out that our old friend, Susanne Madden from IPMSO, has created a perfect outline and instruction set for you.  GO GET YOUR MONEY.

Subject: URGENT: File Your BCBS Settlement Claim Immediately – Deadline 7/29/25
We are following up on our previous communications regarding the $2.8 billion Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) Antitrust Settlement. We cannot stress this enough: there is substantial money on the table, and it is critical that you submit your claim no later than Sunday, July 28 to ensure eligibility and avoid last-minute issues.

Why This Matters:
Medical practices nationwide are eligible to receive a portion of the $152 million Professionals Net Settlement Fund—but only if a valid claim is submitted on time.

The Process Is Simple and Quick:
To submit your claim, go to https://www.bcbsprovidersettlement.com
You will need:
  • Your Name and Address
  • Your Practice Name (or indicate if you’re an individual professional)
  • Your NPI and TIN
  • A best-estimate range of the total BCBS claims submitted between 07/24/2008 and 10/04/2024
[NOTE: PCC clients, just call support and we will help you get your exact numbers in a few minutes!]
You do not need to provide exact figures—BCBS will determine the final amount using their own data.
The priority is to get the claim in and preserve your right to receive funds.

What You Risk by Delaying:
If no claim is filed, your practice may lose out on tens of thousands of dollars or more. Once the deadline passes, there is no second chance.

File Today—It Takes Just 5 Minutes.
We urge you not to wait until the last minute. If you need assistance, please contact us right away.

Let’s make sure your practice gets its fair share.
