Registrations have been flying in for our coding conference in April. Interestingly, most of them are from "out of town" practices - TX, TN, OH, you name it. We were told by the hotel that DC-folks are notorious for signing up at the last minute...we...
I have to admit that it's difficult to keep up with the blog when I get hit by a combination of visits to clients, snow days, a sick kid, and school vacation. Woo hoo. I often find myself sitting up in bed (or the mental equivalent, it's cold here) t...
Over on one of the MGMA mailing lists (whose content and quality seem to diminish over time), the ED of an interesting organization - True North: Maine's Center for Functional Medicine and the Healing Arts - posted a message about their cash-only bus...
A note over on an MGMA mailing list reminded me that I haven't done any good benchmarks in a while, so why not quickly publish our latest pediatric E&M distribution results. Here's a comparison of PCC's pediatric E&M distribution, 2007 vs. 20...
While I'm mentioning samples from my seminar collection, here's something I just received from PCC's coding Igor (ette). She was at a local E&M coding conference and reported this tidbit:
Those of you who have the misfortune of having spent time with me know that I tell a lot of stories, often more than once. I also use the same punchlines a lot. One little routine I've inserted into seminars, phone calls, and lunches a thousand times...
Back on the SOAPM list, I saw an interesting discussion about concierge practices. There was the usual commentary ('Only crazy people in super special circumstances could do that!'), so I thought I'd take a moment to dispel some of the myths. I suspe...
Igor has been very busy lately, and he decided to look into how much our clients benefit from using two of Partner's features: the ability to send "electronic bills" and automatically check eligibility. For the sake of definition, "electronic bills" ...
Over the past year or so, we have had a lot of questions here at PCC about CCHIT certification. "Will PCC's EHR be certified? Is a non-CCHIT certified EHR bad? Do we need a CCHIT certified EHR?"
I had a great time speaking to Drs. Bravo and Rogu on their growing podcast, The Pediatric Lounge, to discuss the state of independent pediatricians and the use of data in a pediatric practice. They are cranking out episodes (which is a good thing) and anyone who supports independent pediatricians should tune in to their effort. What they are doing takes a tremendous amount of work and their guest list is amazing (well, besides me). They turned our conversation into back-to-back episodes (32 and 33), "Independent Pediatric Practice 2022" and "Data Data Data and Managing a Pediatric Office." If you prefer video, you catch up on their YouTube channel.
