Someday, I hope our grandchildren will look back at 2014 and say, "Oh, remember all of those crazy things people used to do with silly ICD codes?"  My feelings about the impending ICD-10 delay are mixed but lean towards disappointment.  I feel particularly bad for all those practices who paid big bucks to their vendors to get "ICD-10 ready!" and then have nothing to show for it.  I just hope doctors don't waste the extra year they have in place...but who am I fooling?

  I am leading two workshops: “Your Practice and the Internet: Things You May not Know” and “Recalling Patients: Effective Strategies for Managing Patient Care in the Medical Home."  The latter will be co-led by Susanne Madden, so you know it will be great.
• May 1, 2014, MC AAP Annual Ed Penn Lecture and CME Program (Waltham, MA)
  “Pediatric Benchmarks: A Review of Both Standard and Unique Pediatric-specific Benchmarks Gathered from Hundreds of Pediatricians Across the Country.”
• August 30-31, 2014, FL AAP Annual Meeting (Orlando, FL)
  We don't know what I'm going to cover, yet, but it will be practice management based. This event is at the Disney Grand Floridian resort!  I expect this event to grow beyond local chapter interest.
• September 18-21, 2014, Texas Pediatric Society Annual Meeting
  I will be presenting two classes - "Effective Patient Recall Strategies" and "Patient Education That Works!" to the Office Managers section.
