Every now and then, it's nice to look back at things I've posted and provide and update.  Today is that day.

•  A month ago, I posted about the AAP's involvement in the analysis of VFC vs. private flu vaccine stock.  So, AAP nay-sayers, some results, via SOAPM:

Because of the efforts of Dr Christoph Diasio and the survey that many SOAPM members filled out, the CDC is investigating the delayed arrival of VFC influenza vaccine. The AAP sent de-identified results of the survey to the CDC's Immunization Services Division, who were concerned to see the extensive lag in arrival of VFC influenza vaccine in some locations. The CDC notified us this morning that the Program Operations Branch Chief will be calling the states to learn more about their distribution processes, especially those states who had such long delays, and identify areas for improvement.

We have also submitted an abstract to discuss this issue at the National Immunization Conference in March.

Way to go, Dr. Diasio!

•  In June, I wrote about the fact that alternatives to the WHO and CDC growth charts really don't exist. I hear about this all the time from providers who insist that there are official, peer-reviewed, data-driven growth charts for things like Down Syndrome, Turner's, preemies, etc.  There aren't.  If your EHR sports such items, someone got a ruler and pencil out and faked it.Good news - Vanderbilt is doing something about it and I'm particularly proud that PCC is able to participate.
•  The AAP's interest in centralizing ARRA/MU information continues to grow and expand.  Add your two cents.
